Friends, Romans, Countrymen...
These portraits, while not candid, are made spontaneously within seconds of my noticing the situation and asking if I can take the shot. There is no staging. I never direct the subjects and prefer that they assume their own poses - smiling, serious, formal, or clowning - whatever they choose to do when I raise my camera. I've also thrown the "plain backgrounds for portraits" rule out the window! I love to set people in the everyday clutter of their working lives, the busier the better.
